Top 5 Film & Television Apps in Kenya Q2 2022

In the second quarter of 2022, the performance of the top 5 Film & Television applications in Kenya on a unified platform revealed interesting trends. The data, sourced from Sensor Tower, highlights the weekly downloads, active users, and revenue for these apps.

Netflix experienced a steady increase in weekly revenue, peaking at approximately $2.1K in the final week of May. Weekly downloads showed fluctuations, with a significant peak at around 90K in mid-April and another increase to 83K at the end of June. The weekly active users generally trended upwards, reaching nearly 500K by the end of June.

K24 Plus saw a high number of downloads in early April, peaking at over 100K. However, the downloads dropped significantly towards the end of the quarter, reaching just over 4K. Despite this, the app maintained a strong active user base, staying above 600K for most of the quarter.

MyDStv Africa had a notable peak in downloads at the end of April with nearly 48K, but this number dropped sharply to around 3K in June. Active users followed a similar trend, peaking at over 150K in late April and declining to around 96K by the end of June.

MyGOtv showed an initial spike in downloads at the beginning of the quarter with over 10K, and another peak at the end of April with nearly 24K. However, downloads dropped to about 3K towards the end of June. Active users also fluctuated, peaking at over 51K in early May and then declining to around 25K by the end of June.

StarTimes ON had a steady increase in downloads mid-quarter, reaching approximately 14K in the week of May 23. The active users also showed a peak of about 25K around the same time. Revenue remained relatively low, peaking at $32 in the first week of April.
